Use WhatsApp’s built-in Export chat command to create a TXT or ZIP file. This is different from a cloud backup and does not require giving Brutal Verdict access to your WhatsApp account.
Open the individual or group conversation you want to analyze, then follow the in-chat export flow.
Open the conversation and use its contact or group details page. WhatsApp may package the text history as a ZIP before opening the iOS share sheet.
A chat export is usually a TXT file or a ZIP containing the TXT. It is not an iCloud, Google Drive or encrypted WhatsApp backup.
If a shared file is only a few words long, WhatsApp probably sent a preview instead of the document. Saving to the phone first is the most reliable fallback.
The browser reads the export, identifies participants and calculates lexical and timestamp statistics locally. Deep semantic analysis also runs on the device using a browser model.
Raw chat messages are not stored in Convex. Optional AI features use aggregate results rather than the raw conversation text.

No. An encrypted backup is designed for restoring WhatsApp. The analyzer needs the TXT or ZIP created by WhatsApp's Export chat feature.
Some share-sheet routes send preview text instead of the exported document. Save the export to Files or your file manager first, then choose that TXT or ZIP with the upload picker.
WhatsApp can export group chats, but Brutal Verdict currently focuses its relationship analysis on the two most active participants and flags group-chat metadata accordingly.
